Maloja once again brings the looks to performance apparel with the StailaM women's fleece jacket. But not just any fleece; similar to the men's FtanM bonded wool jacket, the StailaM integrates merino wool with technical materials to produce a jacket that looks so great you'll be afraid to get it dirty.
But get it dirty you can, because the StailaM is a great fleece jacket apart from looks and technology. It's built with a very forgiving four-way stretch of 76% polyester/18% wool/6% spandex that will move with you whatever your activity. It's sized just a bit smaller, making it a close-fitting piece unless you want to size up, but we see that as a benefit as the insulation and breathability make it a fantastic layering piece under a hard shell if the weather turns against you.
The StailaM definitely qualifies as a minimalist jacket, with just a hem drawcord and two small handwarmer pockets with "invisible zips" that are still glove-friendly thanks to the long zipper pulls. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention the hood, which just feels great with the top-notch materials and stretch. The only thing we'd add is a full zipper garage flap at the chin, although in reality in use the absence is not that noticeable. So bottom line, if you're looking for a fleece jacket that's out of the ordinary in all the right ways, check out the StailaM.
