Therm-a-Rest has been setting the gold standard for sleeping pads for a long time. It's not surprise that the XLite pad - updated for 2015 and still available exclusively in Signature Gold Urine Marigold Yellow color - is the go-to pad for those who value comfort and ultralight weight and don't want to compromise.
The XLite is the non-insulated version of the XTherm, our Denali Approved pad for cold weather use. The XLite tips the scales at a mere 12 ounces for the standard 20x72 regular size. You can go bigger (25x77, 16oz) or smaller (20x47, 8oz) if you'd like, and there is a women's version available (20x66, 12oz) that increases the R-value from 3.2 to 3.9. Options = gud.
You can roll the XLite into a quart-bottle sized package, and if you're feeling too tired to inflate the pad by mouth, consider the Camp-Tek Microburst inflator, also available branded as the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir inflator. It's ultralight by itself and keeps insulation-robbing moisture from your skanky breath out of the equation. An alternative is the NeoAir Pump Sack, which we used and appreciated on Denali; at altitude, after a exhausting day, it was hella easier than gasping into your mattress. If you're looking for a foam pad instead (or in addition), be sure to check out the Z-Lite series. We'll say it again, Therm-a-Rest knows pads.
