And now for something completely useful: an app that helps you diagnose and repair common bicycle malfunctions. The clearly named Bike Repair app is available for iPad, iPhone and Android for the price of a cup of coffee.
Parts covered include wheels, derailleurs, chaink, brakes (disc and v), pedals, handlebar, shifters, suspension and more. There are tips for cleaning and inspecting, fitting a helmet and it even peddles to hypochondriacs with a section on aches and pains.
There are some gaps, for example the section on repairing a flat only covers swapping out the tube without covering how to patch it. It's not Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance, but it doesn't have to be to be useful. Now if only there were an app to help me ride better...
